Surprises on the canvas snap me into present time. They push me from linear thinking to a place of possibility and hopefulness. That’s what I reach for in the studio.
This collection started two years ago with small painted paper collage, which lured me to bigger bowls of paints and larger canvas adventures. In the layering process I experience “glimmers.” Memories and feelings rise up as i paint, influencing color, shape, line. A call and response can go on for weeks or years. A piece is finished when I feel connected.
All together, the body of work represents my belief in the limitless creative solutions we hold inside.
